Now What?
I have built up my strength and conditioned for four full years straight. I cant let it go now. I have come up with some ideas to keep myself motivated to keep moving and keep myself happy.
Mini Marathons

Zombie Run: The premise is to cross the finish line without being eaten by zombies. (No worries, they are simply other runners in makeup!) There are 13 races to choose from, in 12 different cities/states. It is a 5K obstacle course in a secret location, where zombies chase after you through the entire course. If you know me at all, you know that zombies are my biggest fear; and my biggest obsession. This is perfect for me.

Color Run: This 5K marathon is about the most fun a person can have with color ever. For each different kilometer of the race, there is a different color that will be splashed onto everyone. Volunteers, staff and sponsors will be alongside the designated run area to pelt the oncoming runners with colors. Only stipulation: wear white. It will show how much color you have gathered throughout the entire course.

Tough Mudder: This is a 10-12 mile obstacle course covered in mud. At Tough Mudder, they believe that straight marathons are boring, so they designed courses with the help of British Special Forces. This is a team marathon. Also, you will be covered from head to toe with mud!

Warrior Dash: This obstacle course is very similar to Tough Mudder except that the race is not as long. The distance changes with the location of the race, so racing in Georgia may be a totally different race from one in Pennsylvania. During the race, runners wear a transponder recording the exact time of completion. Warrior Dash offers training packets to potential Dashers, helping to prepare for the course ahead.
There are many activities to join for a former student-athlete. Personally I plan on doing at least two of these. Definitely the Zombie Run because it looks like so much fun! So keep your head up, there is always something to do!
Cassie!!! I want to do ALL of these!!! Seriously, can we train for them and do them together!!! I really want to do the Zombie run!! I always see commercials for it!
ReplyDeleteThis is Heather btw hahah
Though its mad expensive, golf (and I'm obviously biased) is a great sport to pick up for athletes.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to explain it, but golf will challenge your mind and body, even at its slow-moving pace, as if you were playing full-contact football. Also, it's great thing for former athletes to do together from early 20s to late 70s.
But I really want to do the Warrior Dash! Great post, Cassie!
I have always wanted to do the Tough Mudder, and I plan on doing it within the next two years. However, the Color Run looks pretty sweet. What not a better way to enjoy a run than getting pelted by colors? I like this post!
